ZToMesh

Converts surfaces, polysurfaces and extrusions, trimmed or not, into meshes. Each selected object produces exactly one mesh.

Toolbar button: ZToMesh button

Before you start

  • Works with surfaces, polysurfaces (open or closed) and extrusions.
  • The mesh is created on the active layer. If that layer is hidden, you will not see the mesh.

Steps

  1. Run ZToMesh. Objects that are already selected are used.
  2. When prompted Select surfaces, polysurfaces or extrusions to mesh, select one or more objects and press Enter.

Result

  • One mesh per object. For a polysurface, all faces are joined into a single mesh.
  • The mesh is created on the active layer (it does not use the layer of the original) and is left selected.
  • The original object is kept unchanged.

Mesh quality

Mesh quality is controlled by a text settings file. Run ZToMeshSettings to open its folder.
